Powers, Geralyn J.
Author for That Patchwork Place
Home: Lyman, Wyoming
Creativity has been a part of Geralyn's life for as long as she can remember. She grew up around strong, accomplished women and watched them express their creativity while caring for homes and families. It was an amazing lesson that in the midst of the many demands of life, one can choose to be expressive in functional tasks. Both of her grandmothers excelled at sewing and quilting arts and helped her develop those skills. She was fortunate to participate in 4-H and, with the help of great leaders, she learned one can have a grand time while reaching for technical and artistic excellence. She graduated from college with a BS in Clothing and Textiles, and then promptly moved with her husband to a small Wyoming community that provided few merchandising opportunities. Luckily, their little town has a fabulous quilt shop that is Geralyn's "home away from home."
Geralyn designs quilt patterns and teaches lots of classes. Quilters are some of the loveliest people and she's learned so much from teaching and associating with such talented ladies. Nothing fosters creativity more than others who share its value.
Her greatest joy comes from her family. She's blessed with a very supportive husband, a son, a daughter, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and three wonderful grandchildren.
