72" x 90" Twin Size. 12 oz. Fiberfill. Luxurious batting gives quilts and clothing breathability to keep you toasty in the colder climates and comfortably cool in warm climates. An ideal batting for machine quilting that features a needlepunch fiber blanket with a smooth drape and a thin scrim to prevent stretching and bunching.

Hobbs Heirloom® Natural is designed for quilters that want a soft drapeable batting with a traditional look. Heirloom Natural is made with 100% Natural cotton and is needle punched for additional strength. Shrinkage of 3-5% and may be quilted up to 4” apart.

What does Needle Punched mean?

This type of batting is carded or garnetted then layered to form a web. The web is then passed through needling equipment that mechanically entangles the web by using thousands of needles that lock the fiber together. This type of product works to give strength to a product while allowing for a soft hand and thinner profile vs. a high loft type product. Needle punched wool or polyester tend to migrate, but will not bunch or shift like plain garnetted or carded products. Needle punched products can be thermal bonded or resin bonded.

Hobbs Heirloom® Black is recommend for dark colored quilts. This batting offers more loft and less weight than traditional cotton battings. It is made with 80% natural cotton & 20% fine polyester and is dyed black to provide quilters a dark batting that will not show through a dark quilt top. It is needle punched and spray bonded to provide exceptional strength and durability. Great for both hand or machine quilting. Shrinkage of 3-5% and may be quilted up to 4” apart.

What is Resin Bonded?

Resin bonded batting is made made from a wide variety of fibers including polyester, cotton, wool, etc. A web is garnetted or carded then passed through a process that applies a resin to both sides. The web is dried and cured to form a bonded batting. This bonded batting resists bearding better than any other type of batting. There are many different types of fiber and resin combinations to give a desired “look” and “hand”. Combining processes, fibers and resins makes the resin bonded process the most versatile and most effective way to produce battings.

Hobbs Heirloom® Bleached Cotton is 100% Bleached Cotton and is recommend for light colored quilts. Their Heirloom® Bleached is made the same way as their Heirloom® Natural, needle punched for additional strength, except they use bleached cotton to provide quilters a white batting that will not show through a lighter quilt top. Shrinkage of 3-5% and may be quilted up to 4” apart.
